Abstract

Unhealthy snacks are currently around in the schools invirontment which are displayed with various color combinations that attract children to consume them. Less school children’s knowledge causes them to snack according to liking without any thought of food contamination with physical, cemical and biological contaminations as well as potentially harmful substances that cause health problems therefore children should be educated in the choice of healthy snacks, it plays a vital role in providing children with energy intake and nourishment. The purpose of this study is to determine how education can effect child knowledge levels in choosing healthy snacks. This study wield quasi-eksperimen with an approach pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study consists of 188 children’s intervention groups and 160 children’s to the control group. Research samples of 60 people’s intervention groups and 60 people’s control groups of 10-12 years old be accepted probability sampling with technique stratified random sampling. Research results were analyzed using statistical test Mann Whitney with differentiation rates α=0,05 available value p=0,000 this suggests that education has an effect on healthy snacks to a child’s level of knowledge in choosing healthy snacks. Education has a huge impact on advancing knowledge.
